Alan Rickman: Actor of Die Hard, Harry Potter and Truly Madly Deeply Die

Alan Rickman was an English actor. Born on February 21, 1946, in London, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

He made his film debut as the villain Hans Gruber in Die Hard (1988). He played the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films. He won a BAFTA for the latter, and for Sense and Sensibility and Truly Madly Deeply.

He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Rickman died in London on January 14, 2016, at age 69.
