Clive Derby-Lewis: Convicted Murderer of Chris Hani Dies at 80

Clive Derby-Lewis was a South African politician. Born on January 22, 1936, in Cape Town, he joined the National Party and then the Conservative Party.

He served in parliament from 1987 to 1989. In 1993 he was convicted of conspiring to murder anti-apartheid leader Chris Hani and was sentenced to death. This was commuted to life imprisonment. He was released on medical parole in 2015.

He had lung cancer. Derby-Lewis died in Pretoria on November 3, 2016, at age 80.
