John Hurt: Oscar-Nominated British Actor Dies at 77

Sir John Hurt was an English actor. Born on January 22, 1940, in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
He was nominated for Academy Awards for Midnight Express and The Elephant Man and appeared in Alien, in which a creature bursts from his chest. He played Mr. Ollivander in Harry Potter and the War Doctor in Doctor Who.
He was knighted in 2015. Hurt died of pancreatic cancer in London on January 25, 2017, at age 77.
